Built in Cape Town, for South African Service Providers

Every South African salon, barber, therapist, and solo service provider deserves a booking tool that fits how their clients actually pay and communicate.

The Problem We Solve

South African service providers were stuck between two bad options: international booking tools that charged R400+/month, ignored local payment methods, and treated WhatsApp as an afterthought, or ad-hoc spreadsheets and WhatsApp threads that cost you time, cause double bookings, and leak no-show revenue.

Fresha, Calendly, and Booksy were built for other markets. None had Yoco or Paystack as first-class payment options. None took WhatsApp reminders seriously even though WhatsApp is how South Africa confirms appointments. And none were priced for a solo stylist or one-room studio.

Booklink fixes this. Simple online booking, Yoco/Paystack/PayFast payments, Google Calendar sync, WhatsApp reminders, at a price that makes sense for a small service business.

Expensive international tools

Fresha, Booksy, and Calendly paid plans run R400-R800/month for features most SA providers will never use.

No WhatsApp reminders

Most booking tools still send email reminders, which SA clients rarely open. WhatsApp read rates exceed 95%.

No Yoco, Paystack, or PayFast

Foreign tools force Stripe or PayPal, skipping the payment rails South African clients already trust.

What Makes Booklink Different

Four pillars that separate Booklink from every other booking tool in South Africa.

Built for South Africa

ZAR currency, local phone formatting, POPIA-aware data handling. Not adapted, built from the ground up for SA.

WhatsApp Reminders

WhatsApp is where SA clients live. Booklink sends automated confirmations and reminders that people actually read.

Local Payments

Yoco, Paystack, and PayFast are built in. Collect deposits or full payment at the time of booking using the rails SA trusts.

Simple Pricing

Free plan forever. Pro at R79/month, which pays for itself the first time you stop a no-show. No hidden fees. Cancel anytime.

Meet the Founder

Booklink is built and maintained by a working engineer, not a faceless brand.

Booklink exists because I watched South African stylists, barbers, trainers, and therapists juggle WhatsApp threads, paper diaries, and Google Sheets just to track appointments. Every time someone in my network asked me which booking system they should use, there wasn't a clean answer. Just compromises.

I'm a software engineer with more than a decade of experience building SaaS products across payments, identity, and fintech. Tora Technologies is the company I started to ship tools I actually want to use, built for the South African market first. Booklink is one of our flagship products, alongside our invoicing tool Rebill.

Every feature you see in Booklink, from Yoco and Paystack payments to WhatsApp reminders, Google Calendar sync, team scheduling, and shareable booking links, is a direct response to a problem a real South African service provider brought to me. There is no outsourced roadmap. I write the code, I answer the support emails, and I pay SARS from the same country you do.

Why a local company matters

Bookings touch your revenue, your cashflow, and your client relationships. When your tooling comes from a company in the same country, support speaks your language, payments clear into a local bank, and features land when SA regulations change, not twelve months later.

Our commitment

Every Booklink plan has a free tier that never expires. POPIA is built into the product, not bolted on. We pay SA taxes, bank locally, and communicate via WhatsApp, exactly like the businesses we serve.

How Booklink is funded

Booklink is fully bootstrapped. There are no venture investors pushing us toward acquisition or aggressive upsell quotas. Our only revenue comes from the R79/month Pro plan, which means our incentives line up with yours. Keep customers happy, keep building useful features, charge a fair price.

Quick answer

Who builds Booklink and where is it based?

Booklink is built and operated by Tora Technologies (Pty) Ltd, an independent South African software company registered with CIPC (2025/583656/07) and headquartered in Cape Town. The company was founded in July 2025 by Nico Huysamen, a software engineer with more than a decade of experience shipping SaaS products across payments, identity, and fintech. Booklink is one of Tora's flagship products, alongside the invoicing tool Rebill. Both products are designed specifically for South African small businesses rather than adapted from international tooling.

Booklink is fully bootstrapped - there are no venture investors, no acquisition timeline, and no aggressive upsell quotas. Revenue comes solely from the R79 per month Pro plan, which means the company's incentives line up with its customers' - keep users happy, keep shipping useful features, charge a fair price. Support is answered directly by the engineer who writes the code, usually the same day, from the same country and time zone as every customer Booklink serves. Data is hosted in line with POPIA requirements and payments are billed into a South African bank account.
