Do WhatsApp reminders actually reduce no-shows?

Yes - and the evidence is strong in the South African market specifically. WhatsApp has well over 20 million active users in South Africa, making it the default messaging channel across every age bracket and income level. Compared to SMS, WhatsApp messages have far higher open rates and are read faster. Compared to email, WhatsApp gets a response. For service businesses relying on booked time slots (salons, studios, physios, tutors, consultants), sending an automatic confirmation on booking plus a reminder 24 hours and 2 hours before the appointment has been shown to cut no-show rates materially. Frequently asked questions

Do I need a WhatsApp Business account?
No. Booklink sends WhatsApp reminders via a shared compliant Business API sender. You do not need your own WhatsApp Business API setup or a separate phone number.
Are there per-message costs?
WhatsApp reminders are included up to a generous fair-use allowance on the Pro plan at R79/month. High-volume businesses may pay per-message beyond that cap - we will let you know before it ever happens.
Can I customise the reminder text?
WhatsApp requires pre-approved message templates for proactive messages, so you cannot change the whole template at will. You can customise the variables (business name, a short personal note, preparation instructions) that slot into the approved template.
What if a client does not have WhatsApp?
Email reminders are always sent alongside WhatsApp, so clients without WhatsApp still get every reminder. If a WhatsApp delivery fails, the fallback is email.
